Good fly fishing comes to those who wait

Reports are ticking in from all over Fishspot-country as summer temperatures do their magic on rivers with healthy flows. Hatches are still prolific and for a lot of us, the best fly fishing is yet to come.
It has been a slightly weird start with early ice-off but low spring temperatures in large parts of the country. Some would call this start of the season quite difficult. Strong winds have also put a damper on all things fly fishing-related. But there's always a silver lining.
Rivers have been running high for weeks longer than usual, as the low temperatures saved a lot of the precious water from evaporation. In hindsight, a couple of weeks of northerly winds is a small price to pay for a longer than normal season of dry fly action.
Now the slow progress we have had the last few weeks will come to a rapid accelleration in large areas. We expect clouds of caddis to materialize as a high pressure system finally lands on our turf.
Healthy flows in pristine rivers
Glomma and Gudbrandsdalslågen are both major water systems that we think will fish well in the coming week. So will mountain rivers like Holselva and tributaries to the larger rivers Glomma and Lågen.
Rena river has been running high for a frustratingly long time, but with the coming scorcher we expect that to change. Packing your gear for a week on the Rena in the near future can be a very good idea (but come on, this is fly fishing – we don't deal with guarantees ... )

Spectacular lake fishing
Lake fishing has been spectacular this season. If you are after big fish we strongly recommend checking out our stillwaters. They have proven to provide the fish of a lifetime to several anglers this year.
High alpine lakes and streams in Skjåk and Lesja and even the fabled wild lakes in the Sylan massive are warming up and getting fishier by the hour.
All in all, as the calendar hints that we are approaching the half-way point of the season, the weather tells us the best is yet to come.
