Streamer fishing the Rena opening 2021
Since Renaelva opened up again May 1st, streamers have been the ticket for most anglers. However, the dry fly fishing will be picking up soon!
Since Renaelva opened up again May 1st, streamers have been the ticket for most anglers. And there have been some really nice trout being caught, both from the banks and from boats, casting into the banks. Rena Fishcamp has a variety of boats available for rental. For those who would like to take things a step further they also offer guided drift trips, where you can gain a wealth of local knowledge and increase your chances of success.
The warm summer weather is finally here, and we anticipate some good fishing within a short time. The water will warm up, and the hatches will begin and continue throughout the summer. The first major hatch we anticipate is the mayfly Baetis Rhodani. It can best be imitated in a cream/olive mayfly pattern in a size 14. This often hatches after a rain shower with low overhanging clouds, and is it wise to be ready when it happens. Rena elva has a rich insect life, and there are large grayling and trout steadily rising on the warm, wind still days. As anglers we are now headed into the perfect time of the season along the banks of Renaelva. Visit renaelva.no to purchase fishing licenses.
