Welcome to Grayling Country – Season 2026

A new season is approaching. If you’ve been dreaming about vast, wadeable waters where trophy grayling thrive in seemingly endless stretches, this is your reminder: Glomma is waiting.

Glomma, the gleaming river, is a huge waterway where it meets the ocean south of Oslo. 4,5 hours drive north of the capital the river and the landscape has changed completely.

A Safe Bet

Planning a fishing trip abroad can feel like a gamble. Weather systems shift. Rivers rise. Winds pick up. When your week off is fixed months in advance, uncertainty can be the biggest stress factor of all.

That’s where Kvennan Fly Fishing makes the difference.

With deep local knowledge of Glomma and its surrounding rivers and lakes, experienced guides help you adapt to conditions in real time. If the main river runs high, there are tributaries to explore. If wind affects one stretch, another might be perfect. The variety of options turns uncertainty into opportunity.

Our experienced guides know the variety of rivers and lakes well, and will put you in the right spot at the right time.

Timing Your 2026 Trip

In the main river, water levels typically stabilize by mid-summer. While fish can certainly be caught earlier, late June through early July often marks the beginning of more predictable conditions.

Of course, nature doesn’t follow calendars. Heavy rain can still change plans overnight. But the upper Glomma region offers flexibility. Nearby lakes and tributaries — including the Hodalen Lakes — provide excellent alternatives when the main river runs high.

The diversity of the area means one thing: serious anglers will almost always find fishable water.

95 km of Grayling Heaven

The stretch of Glomma from Alvdal to Os and Erlia is a staggering 95 kilometers of prime grayling water. This river is tailor-made for anglers looking to master nymphing techniques or explore diverse fishing conditions.

Whether you’re drifting nymphs in shallow riffles, fishing dries in smooth glides, or prospecting deep pools with a double-nymph rig, Glomma has it all. With so much river to explore, every angler can find their perfect stretch.
